Hi, my name is Nicole and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my partner Xander.
On Wednesday September 21st, Xander was struck head-on by a truck while riding his motorcycle up Kapakalua road on Maui.
We are so grateful that Xander is alive, but he has a long and painful road ahead. Both hips are broken, one of them dislocated from the socket, his left tibia was broken in multiple fractures, and his sternum is fractured. He is being flown to Oahu for surgery, as there are no hip specialists on Maui, and will probably be there for 2-3 weeks before he is able to come back to Maui to continue recovery.
In addition to losing his only means of transportation, Xander’s antique fiddle that was strapped on his back is broken, (perhaps saving his life), and he will not be able to work for an indefinite period of time.
We are asking for any and all help to assist with incredible medical bills, physical therapy, and loss of income.
Above all we are just so grateful that the brilliant beam of light that is the irreplaceable Xander Hitzig is ALIVE. And his hands are healthy though a little bruised so we can still expect the joy of hearing his beautiful music in the days to come once he is healed up.
